On August 19, Tan Tieniu, Chair of NJU CPC Council and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, visited the Suzhou Campus to conduct field research on the construction progress of the West Zone and gave instructions regarding its opening.

At the West Zone, Tan Tieniu inspected the construction of important functional facilities including student dormitories, Canteen 18, teaching buildings, and the grand hall. He fully affirmed the significant achievements in the current construction, noting that the West Zone's overall planning is scientific and construction is progressing in an orderly manner, already demonstrating high-level hardware foundations and an internationalized campus, laying a good foundation for its opening in the new semester.

He emphasized that the construction of the Suzhou Campus should continue to adhere to a people-centered approach. Relevant departments must focus on the needs of teachers and students, ensuring the livability, comfort, and convenience of spaces, and strive to comprehensively enhance the happiness and satisfaction of teachers and students' campus life. While showcasing a modern appearance, the West Zone construction must deeply integrate NJU's rich historical context. Careful design is needed in interior arrangements, atmosphere creation, and other details to make it a new window and highland for inheriting the spirit of NJU and telling its story, making the university's unique character a distinctive cultural identifier of the campus.
Facing the important time point of the West Zone's imminent opening, Tan Tieniu emphasized the need to build a solid safety protection barrier, strictly control construction quality, scientifically arrange construction progress, and ensure all finishing work is completed on schedule with high quality, creating a premium project that will stand the test of time and provide solid support for the long-term development of the campus.
Assistant President and Executive Deputy Director of the Suzhou Campus Administrative Committee Jiang Tian, along with heads of relevant units of the Suzhou Campus Administrative Committee, accompanied the research visit.
