On August 26, Nanjing University and Nanjing Jiangbei New Area signed a strategic cooperation agreement, opening a new chapter in university-local cooperation. Tan Zhemin, President of Nanjing University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Lu Weidong, Member of the Nanjing Municipal Committee, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Jiangbei New Area, and Secretary of Pukou District Committee, attended the signing ceremony and delivered speeches.
Tan Zhemin pointed out that the vibrant land of Jiangbei New Area is pulsing with innovation genes and also resonates with the pace of NJU's development. For nearly 40 years, the Pukou Campus has been an important growth pole for NJU and has made significant contributions to local economic and social development. This cooperation will further promote NJU's better alignment with the actual needs of Jiangbei New Area, ushering a new phase for campus construction. He looks forward to both parties accelerating the implementation of various arrangements in the agreement, and continuing mutual efforts around promoting the integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation, attracting and cultivating high-level talents, building a high-quality campus, and providing high-level services. Tan Zhemin emphasized that the cooperation between NJU and Jiangbei New Area has a successful past, a present of side-by-side progress, and will certainly have an even brighter future. He hopes that both parties will take this strategic cooperation signing as an opportunity to work jointly to build Jiangbei New Area into a "new highland for industrial innovation and a vibrant new main urban area" and to achieve the goal of building "the unique Nanjing University," making greater contributions to the process of comprehensively advancing the building of a strong country and national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization.
Lu Weidong stated that NJU is a renowned higher education institution in China with a long history and distinguished reputation. It has maintained close ties with Jiangbei New Area, and a number of innovation and entrepreneurship teams have achieved breakthroughs here. Lu Weidong pointed out that with this signing event as an opportunity, the Jiangbei New Area will comprehensively deepen cooperation with NJU in multiple fields such as education, technology, and industry, opening a new chapter of organic integration and mutual promotion. He hopes that both parties will jointly focus on the integrated development of university and local society, adhering to high-starting-point planning, high-standard design, and high-quality implementation, working together to build a national-level modernized New Area and new campus; focus on scaling the heights of industrial technology, deepen the integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation, and jointly participate in the vibrant new practice of developing new quality productive forces; deepen the integrated development of education, technology, and talent, and jointly build a vibrant new highland where high-level talent teams are attracted from near and far.

The signing ceremony was presided over by Wang Wei, Member of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of Jiangbei New Area.
Chen Yunsong, Vice Chair of NJU CPC Council, and Wang Wei signed the Strategic Cooperation Agreement on behalf of both parties.
Both sides also signed multiple special cooperation agreements. University leaders Lu Yanqing, Chen Yunsong, and Suo Wenbin, along with He Jinxue and Chen Wenbin, Members of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Directors of the Administrative Committee of Jiangbei New Area, signed on behalf of both parties.
According to the agreement, NJU and Jiangbei New Area will fully leverage the advantages of both parties in scientific and technological talent intellectual resources and regional development, continuously deepen cooperation in building the main position for the chemistry-biology-medicine disciplinary cluster, constructing high-quality innovative technology research and development platforms, jointly building the Jiangbei New Park of Nanjing University National University Science and Technology Park, jointly establishing the Jiangbei New Area Base of Nanjing University Graduate College for Elite Engineers, expanding cooperation with Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute, accelerating the cluster development of "Nanjing University system" enterprises, solidly promoting new breakthroughs in connotation construction, industrial and technological innovation, shared service platforms for scientific and technological facilities, and campus construction, striving to promote the building of a world-class university and the development of a national-level New Area, and jointly making greater contributions to advancing the new practice of Chinese modernization in Jiangsu.
