On June 18, 2025, the launch event for the English edition of  Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese Economics (hereinafter referred to as the Dictionary), edited by Hong Yinxing, NJU University Distinguished Professor in Humanities and Social Sciences and former Chair of NJU CPC Council, was held at the venue of the 31st Beijing International Book Fair. The event was attended by over 50 guests, including Xu Zhengming, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Financial Publishing & Media Group; Qi Weina, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Economic Science Press; Dr. Niels Peter Thomas, Global Head of Books and Executive Vice President of Springer Nature; William Achauer, Editorial Director for Business, Management, Law, and Political Science; Zhang Yingying, Senior Editor for Business, Management, and Political Science; as well as representatives of the translation team such as Professor Li Weibin, President of Sichuan Applied Foreign Languages Research Association, and Professor Zhang Jie, Secretary-General of the association, along with other domestic and international experts and scholars.

Xu Zhengming extended his congratulations on the publication of the English edition of the Dictionary. He emphasized that the English edition is a key project of Economic Science Press, adapted from the award-winning Dictionary of Contemporary Economics—recipient of the Seventh National Outstanding Publication Award. The Dictionary systematically summarizes the development of Chinese economics over the past 70 years. Since signing a collaboration agreement with Springer Nature in November 2018 to co-publish the English edition, Economic Science Press organized a team of authors to revise the dictionary, incorporating new developments, concepts, and theories in China's domestic economic field in recent years. A translation team was assembled, consisting of economics experts with profound academic expertise and linguists with strong English language proficiency. Additionally, an editorial team with extensive review experience and excellent English skills was formed to ensure the academic quality and translation accuracy of the English edition. Xu stated that telling China's economic and development stories well, and enabling more overseas readers to understand and interpret China through books, is a shared vision and mission. In the face of the global wave of digitalization, China Financial Publishing & Media Group and Economic Science Press will further deepen cooperation with Springer Nature and other international publishing institutions, strengthen exchange and mutual learning, expand product formats, and contribute Chinese strength to the flourishing development of global academic publishing.

Dr. Niels Peter Thomas expressed his gratitude to all the teams that supported the successful publication of the English edition of the Dictionary. He remarked that the Dictionary is not merely a dictionary but also a bridge connecting the discourse system of Chinese economics with global economic dialogue. As a representative of Springer Nature, he stated that it is an honor to publish this work, which will become an indispensable part of their important reference series, providing valuable resources for the global academic community and professionals.

The chief editor of the Dictionary, renowned economist Hong Yinxing, participated in the event via video and noted in his speech that the release of the English edition is not merely the launch of a new book but also a major academic achievement from China's economics community presented to the world. He emphasized that the publication of the English edition is significant for promoting the internationalization of Chinese economics, expressing hope that the Dictionary will become an important window for the world to understand Chinese economics and serve as a solid bridge for collaboration and exchange between Chinese and international economics.

Professor Li Weibin, President of Sichuan Applied Foreign Languages Research Association and representative of the translation team, stated in his speech that the publication of the English edition of the Dictionary embodies the academic passion of publishers and highlights the mission and responsibility of Economic Science Press as a national-level publishing institution. He elaborated on the translation team's principles during the translation process, which prioritized accuracy, ensured readability, and emphasized cultural adaptability.

The English edition of Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese Economics is part of the "14th Five-Year Plan" National Key Publication Project and is supported by the National Publishing Fund. Jointly published by China Financial Publishing & Media Group's Economic Science Press and Springer Nature, the English edition took seven years from translation to publication. The work is divided into two volumes, containing 1,053 entries, 2,063 pages, and over 6.9 million words. Its publication and distribution both domestically and internationally hold significant importance for constructing an independent knowledge system in philosophy and social sciences in China, as well as for telling China's economic and development stories effectively.
